Indonesia Java International Destination – East Java – Surabaya City

Surabaya city is located in the eastern part of the Java Island and is one of the Indonesia Java International Destination which is visited by many tourists. This is referred also as the City of Hero because this city was largely involved in the independence war of Indonesia and is remembered by the Heroes monument. More than eight million people reside in this city and it has got many good shopping centers, hotels and offer great entertainment thus forming one of the Indonesia Java International Destination. This is the second largest city in Indonesia and is located near the river of Brantas. Some of the places that are worth visiting in this city are Kali Mas harbor which has trading schooners that are tall, shops in the Arab quarter, redolent of the middle east, narrow alleyways, hotel Majapahit where the war of Independence of Indoensia started, Grahadi State building and a zoo which is considered as one of the largest and oldest zoo in the region of Southeast Asia. The city also houses a zoological garden that is filled with many species of animals which are rare to be found elsewhere like nocturnal animals and orangutan. The famous harbor Kalimas is one of the attractions for tourists as it has the popular Bugis schooner which has been in the Indonesian seas for nearly hundred years.
